The blues scale in A are the following notes:

A C D D# E G

They are many places on the guitar, but an EASY place to play the scale in TWO OCTAVES is like this:

from lowest SOUNDING string (the fat one on top) to the thinnest ...

A - 6th str. 5th fret

C - 6 th str. 8th fret

D - 5th st, 5th fr

D# - 5th st, 6th fr

E - 5th st, 7th fr

G - 4th st, 5th fr

A - 4th st, 7th fr

C - 3rd st, 5th fr

D - 3rd st, 7th fr

D# - 3rd st, 8th fr

E - 2nd st, 5th fr

G - 2nd st, 8th fr

A - 1st st, 5th fr

Reply:I was about to write an mini-essay.......however, the two previous respondents have given you plenty of info + references.

Good Luck !!
Reply:Here is a website for you. http://chordfind.com/ As to signal string. Use your ABC's It's simple.

Start on the first string which is an E. First fret is an F , second fret is an F#, third fret is a G. fourth is a G#. Next is an A, next an A# and so on. There are no B# or C#.

Each string is the same way. A string, first fret is an A#, then B, then C and so on. same with the G string, first fret is a G#
